There are four main points to consider when capturing a good cell phone portrait:
Good quality light is one of the most important factors in getting a good shot. We’ll be doing our portraits outside and will have to rely on natural lighting. The best light is in the morning before 10am or in the evening after 4 or 5 this time of year. The light is warmer and softer at these times of the day and will create softer shadows. Shooting portraits during mid day when the sun is strong creates harsh photos with hard shadows.
Make sure the sun is not behind the camera shining into your face or coming in directly from the side. This will usually create an undesirable effect.
