Incomplete Combustion Causes Many Engine Problems

The combustion chamber of an Internal Combustion Engine is an incredibly volatile environment. Temperatures can be around 1200°F, and pressures can be around 800 PSI. Enormous fuel-generated explosions occur anywhere between 10 and 110+ times per second. Everything has to work just right – or problems can easily begin and continue to get worse over time.

A problem that very often occurs is fouled fuel injectors. This is usually always caused by deposits from incomplete combustion of the fuel. It is a circular effect – incomplete combustion produces residual deposits in the combustion chamber, these deposits adhere to the injector tip, the dirty fuel injector then creates an abnormal fuel spray pattern, which causes an even worse combustion process, increasing the amount of residual deposits.

Poor Gas Mileage, Low Power, Hard To Start

As these deposits build up on your fuel injectors, they will no longer function as they should, and the fuel injection spray pattern will be adversly affected. The fuel becomes more difficult to ignite and burns less efficiently causing problems such as poor fuel mileage, harder starts, less power, and higher harmful emissions.

Deposits also form on pistons, valves, cylinder head and turbocharger. Piston rings become stuck in their grooves, causing oil consumption to increase, and creating further (oil related) deposits. Hard deposits form on the back of valves and on the valve seat area. Valve failure can result. Wear increases on all critical components. In short, the wear rate of the engine is dramatically accelerated!

FAQ: Can I use Cleanpower and FTC Decarbonizer at the same time?
Yes! It’s a great idea to use Cleanpower and FTC Decarbonizer together! They do different jobs, yet they work remarkably well together in overcoming many potentially costly engine problems – excessive exhaust smoke, engine blow-by, low performance/fuel mileage, etc.

Choose the most appropriate size Cleanpower for your particular need. Various size options are available –

Cleanpower Super-concentrated Fuel Treatment is added directly to the fuel tank (diesel or gasoline) at time of fill up.

It is recommended to use a ‘double dose’ (1:4000) for the first few tankfuls of fuel, so that it can do a thorough job of removing tough deposits on injector tips quickly. After that, the single dose rate (1:8000) can be used to continue to clean further deposits, and to keep the complete fuel system clean, and the injectors delivering fuel as designed by the vehicle’s manufacturer. Continued use will ensure maximum fuel efficiency & power, smooth engine operation, and less harmful emissions/exhaust smoke – all resulting in longer engine life and lower ongoing maintenance costs.

Initial treatment rate: 1:4000

Large diesel engines: Detroit, Mack, Cat, large Cummins etc
Add 3 fl oz per 100 gallons of fuel for the first few tankfuls of fuel (100 mL  per 400 liters of fuel)

Thereafter (rate 1:8000): add 1.5 fl oz per 100 gallons of fuel (50 mL per 400 liters of fuel)

Small diesel & gasoline engines:
Add 0.3 fl oz per 10 gallons for the first few tankfuls of fuel (10 mL per 40 liters of fuel)

Thereafter (rate 1:8000): add 0.15 fl oz per 10 gallons of fuel (5 mL per 40 liters of fuel)

As a rule of thumb, and depending on the fuel consumption rate the engine achieves, the following is usually helpful in determining which size is most suitable for your application –

  • 8 fl oz – can treat up to 500 gallons (1900 liters) of fuel. This is usually enough to treat cars, small to medium pickup trucks, small agricultural tractors & machinery, small boats, small generators, etc.
  • 16 fl oz – can treat up to 1000 gallons (3800 liters) of fuel. This is usually enough to treat mid-size pickup trucks, box trucks, small RVs, medium agricultural tractors & machinery, medium boats, generators, etc.
  • 32 fl oz – can treat up to 2000 gallons (7600 liters) of fuel. This is usually enough to treat large trucks, RVs, large agricultural tractors & machinery, large excavators, dozers, large boats, etc.
  • 64 fl oz – can treat up to 4000 gallons (15,000 liters) of fuel. This is usually enough to treat 2 or 3 large trucks, or a combination of trucks and other machines, boats, etc.
  • 1 Gallon – this is usually enough to treat a number of large trucks & machinery, combinations of various machinery and/or boats, Fleet & workshops, etc.

Noticeably less smoke

“I did the oil flush with great results as far as noticeable sludge. While not 100% free of sludge (oil now has slight dark grey tinge, but does not stain fingers when rubbing together), but the difference before and after is really striking, great product! The performance and lowering amount of smoke at start up are noticeable & engine seems quieter.
Other than sludgy oil, my main concern was a bit of blue haze I’m getting driving up grades when the engine is under load. I believe I am burning a bit of oil, not noticeable on the dipstick level or anything, but that blue haze is a tell-tale sign. After the flush, the blue haze was only just noticeable, but I think it may be as I drive more, it’s possibly improving (Cleanpower working?) I am not even half way through my first tank of fuel, as I haven’t been driving tons.

Preventative maintenance, great results

“I started using the products about 6 years ago when I needed to rejuvenate a Yanmar turbo 4-cylinder engine on a newly purchase 27 year old sailboat. The engine was in very poor condition – the exhaust smoke was black, and it had little torque. As it’s a marine engine with little chance of working “hard”, it did take quite a while of using the FTC Decarbonizer and Cleanpower, along with 3 oil flushes over time using Flushing Oil Concentrate to get the engine back to as new condition. As you know, the turbo was mechanically damaged, so I replaced it.
Seeing the wonders these product can provide I started using them on my two V6 Mercedes diesel-engined vehicles. These are late model vehicles with diesel particulate filters and exhaust fuel treatment additive (DEF).
I bought both of these vehicles, used, with low kilometers. I now have 110,000 kilometers on one car, and the SUV has reached 160,000 kilometers. Both engines run with FTC Decarbonizer and ULS Diesel Enhancer. When I change the oil, I use the Flushing Oil Concentrate as you recommend. I always use high quality full synthetic oil in these engines.
I can see that the engine oil is soot/carbon free, and the oil remains clean and honey colored for a period of time.
Result is my cars perform superbly with unbelievable acceleration (for a diesel) and are very economical on fuel.
So for me these products are preventive maintenance and I know it is not a scam with the results I get.”

Small gas-engined compressor

“I had a little FTC Decarbonizer and Cleanpower left over so I just put them both into my gas-engined compressor 5hp gas tank. I know I added too much, as the tank is only 1/2 gallon, and I put in more than suggested, so it was super concentrated. Of course, it ran like crap and a bunch of smoke came out, but not blue smoke, just black smoke. When I held a white shop rag in front of the exhaust, it was filled with chunks of soot and what looked like carbon. Could it possibly work that fast?

I just left it running, lopping along and surging, but when I came back in about 10 minutes, it was running strong and no black smoke. It was running so well, I’m thinking Can this be right? It’s filling up the 100PSI tank way better than before. It’s really just crazy that my little air compressor that would darken a white rag now has completely no smoke coming out the exhaust, how can this be? Long term fuel storage

“Prior to using FTC Decarbonizer and Cleanpower in my 2011 Kawasaki KLR650, if I did not empty the fuel tank and drain the carburetor when I’d set it up for the winter months, it would always mean a carburetor teardown and clean,  and most often, new gas as the old stuff had gone stale by the Spring. Using these products has now totally eliminated that process. I can set the bike up for winter without doing the draining process, then hit the start button in Spring, and it’ll fire right up first time and run as though it’s only been sitting for a week. But here’s an amazing thing – due to circumstances, the bike sat up 2 and a half years without being started. Carburetor was not drained and the gas tank was over half full. Come this Spring, I finally was able to get back to it. I replaced the battery because it was dead beyond help. I was certain it wouldn’t start, knowing for sure the gas would be stale and the carburetor jets would be blocked up, but I hit the button anyway, just to see. A bit of choke and within about 7 seconds it was running sweetly. Amazing! Within 30 minutes I was out riding it with no problems at all. Full rev range, no coughs, no sputters, sweet acceleration, idles smoothly. I’ve never seen or heard of a fuel stabilizer that works so well.
