Marine Diesel Stabilizer

Marine Diesel Stabilizer “kills” micro organisms in diesel outright, including bacteria and fungus, and prevents re-contamination.

Marine Diesel Stabilizer is the perfect marine treatment for recovering aged diesel and preventing new diesel from degrading.

  • Prevent fuel oxidation & fouling deposits
  • Protect against rust & corrosion
  • Lubricate & clean fuel injectors
  • Remove carbon / glazing & reduce exhaust smoke
  • Concentrated detergents to disperse deposits
  • Perfect for long term fuel storage
  • Burns aged diesel cleanly

Marine Diesel Stabilizer

How does Marine Diesel Stabilizer reduce the operational costs of my marine diesel engine?

Marine Diesel Stabilizer has 2 huge advantages for diesel powered marine vessels!

1. Specifically designed and tested for marine applications, its concentrated treat/dosage rate keeps stored fuel fresh and prevents diesel from breaking down.

Boat owners know that water and diesel don’t mix and can be a recipe for disaster. Avoiding expensive tank repair/cleaning costs, or pricey fuel system overhauls can be achieved by regularly adding Marine Diesel Stabilizer as a preventative maintenance measure.

Marine Diesel Stabilizer is a highly concentrated formula, specifically designed to not only prevent diesel fuel growths from forming, but will actively kill any biological growths that have previously formed in fuel tanks, and safely exhaust them through the combustion process.

Why do I need to treat the diesel in my boat’s fuel tank?

Diesel fuel-borne organisms consist of well over 100 different species of fungi, bacteria and yeasts. These organisms thrive in diesel fuel, especially diesel stored in fuel tanks that are subject to water contamination. They can overrun your diesel by transfer from already infected fuel or by infestation from airborne spores.

Blocked diesel filter

Some water craft users have evaded the problem over time, but it still remains an ever present threat, and if left untreated, will eventually cause trouble. If the diesel stored in your  boat’s fuel tank has been subject to variations in weather and temperature (cold winters and hot summers) or has been stored for extended periods without usage, there is a substantial danger that your diesel is probably contaminated.

Diesel fuel-borne organisms can completely block fuel filters and deprive your boat engine of fuel just when you really need it the most – usually when you’re a long way from shore.

What is the most effective way to fix this potentially disastrous problem?

The best protection that can be implemented to safeguard against these extremely dangerous, potentially disastrous organisms is a two-fold action –

  1. Remove their source of life – water. When there is no water in the tank, diesel organisms cannot survive. Easier said than done – it is impossible to stop water entering a fuel tank as condensation will always be a problem. And all too often, water craft fuel tanks suffer from water entry through the filler, even when all precautions are taken.
  2. Eradicate the organisms already present as quickly and effectively as possible. This is done by introducing Marine Diesel Stabilizer into the diesel. Marine Diesel Stabilizer is remarkably effective as a biocide and dispersant. It KILLS diesel organisms outright, and also brings any water in the diesel into suspension, which destroys the organisms habitat. The suspended water in the fuel is carried through the combustion process and safely exhausted.

2. Marine Diesel Stabilizer is also a unique combustion catalyst and complete fuel system treatment. It oxidizes hard carbon from combustion and exhaust spaces, turbos and DPF’s. It makes fuel combust much faster, easier and cleaner, as well as effectively cleaning and lubricating the entire fuel system, including fuel pumps, lines, and especially injectors. It also contains an ingredient to assist with the recovery of aged diesel.

Marine Diesel Stabilizer overcomes a long list of problems often encountered by marine diesel engine operators, including –

  • Excessive exhaust smoke
  • Stern covered in exhaust soot
  • Engine hard to start, white exhaust smoke on start-up
  • Unburnt diesel fuel evident in the water
  • Engine blowby
  • Blocked/faulty/noisy fuel injectors
  • Usual consequences of aged diesel

Many of these problems are caused by combustion-related carbon build-up in the engine’s combustion chamber.

Marine diesel engines suffer more from combustion carbon build up than their road going counterparts. Marine diesel engines usually don’t ‘work’ as hard as road-based diesels, and consequently combustion carbon is not burned off as well, causing significant carbon build up in the combustion chamber, particularly in the piston ring grooves (causing stuck rings) and on the cylinder walls (cylinder glaze), as well as blocked fuel injector nozzles. These issues cause a lower than satisfactory combustion ignition pressure, as well as less than satisfactory fuel spray atomization – consequently, a less than satisfactory combustion of the fuel/air mixture. The result – unburned diesel fuel exiting the exhaust system, evidenced as white exhaust smoke, and often, unburned diesel in the water. As the engine warms up, tolerances are reduced, the combustion chamber gets hotter, and the diesel fuel combusts a little more completely (though still not as well as it could), and the white exhaust smoke is reduced. In addition to all this, carbon/soot particles make their way past the rings and into the oil pan/crankcase, which creates black, gritty oil sludge, which isn’t something you really want in the engine lubrication system.

How Does Marine Diesel Stabilizer fix these problems?

Marine Diesel Stabilizer safely oxidizes (burns off) engine carbon deposits progressively as the engine operates. When added to diesel fuel, it modifies the chemistry of the fuel combustion process to accelerate the fuel burn and oxidizes (burns off) existing combustion chamber and exhaust system carbon. Over time, this action releases stuck rings and deglazes cylinders. It also acts as a combustion catalyst to ignite fuel much more easily during cold starts and during normal operation. The active component in Marine Diesel Stabilizer ignites before the fuel, resulting in faster, cleaner, and more efficient starts, and more efficient fuel burn as the engine operates, resulting in an overall increase in combustion efficiency and engine performance.

Marine Diesel Stabilizer restores total cleanliness to fuel pumps, lines and injectors to restore correct fuel spray patterns, and provides optimum fuel atomization, as well as adding the necessary lubrication to fuel pumps and injectors which is missing because of today’s ultra low sulfur diesel fuel. This increases fuel efficiency and reduces exhaust emissions.

For marine diesel use only.

Standard Treatment Rate1:1200

    • 16 fl oz treats 150 gallons (565 liters) of diesel, and is usually enough to treat small engines up to approximately 3.0 liter engine displacement (185 Cubic Inch)
    • 32 fl oz treats 300 gallons (1130 liters) of diesel, and is usually enough to treat engines up to approximately 6.0 liter engine displacement (370 Cubic Inch)
    • 64 fl oz treats 600 gallons (2265 liters) of diesel, and is usually enough to treat engines up to approximately 9.0 liter engine displacement (550 Cubic Inch)
    • 1 gallon treats 1200 gallons (4530 liters) of diesel, and is usually enough to treat engines over 9.0 liter engine displacement (over 550 Cubic Inch)

For Twin Engine applications – to achieve the best result for both engines, it is highly recommended to double the amount needed suggested above. Two engines burn through twice as much diesel as a single engine, consequently, twice as much Marine Diesel Stabilizer will be needed to adequately treat two engines.
